Our Checklist

We believe that there are certain actions that a well trained pony or horse should be able to perform.

Here is how we evaluate the horses we offer for sale.
(Please note:  If a pony or horse that we offer for sale
does not perform as well as we believe it should in a certain area,
we will state that in the "For Sale" page dedicated to that specific horse or pony.
We strive to give accurate, honest descriptions of each pony or horse we offer for sale.)

A well trained horse or pony should:

Stand tied quietly and calmly.
Stand for saddling and bridling.
Pick up all 4 hooves and allow feet to be picked.
Stand for farrier without a fuss.
Load into a trailer and unload calmly and immediately.
Walk, trot, canter when asked.
Not bite!
Spook in place. -No bolting, bucking, or acting in dangerous manners.
Stand for bathing, grooming, vet work.
Be able to be caught in a pasture without a chase.
Halter and lead well.
Pay attention to handler/rider.
Not pull back when tied OR when being led.
Not rear up!

If a horse is being sold as a particular type of mount, we'll specify.  For example, we'll state if the horse is a good trail horse, has gotten a good start over jumps, runs barrels or poles, etc.  From there, we'll try our best to show videos and pictures of the horse or pony doing those tasks.
